Ingredients for 8 servings:
- 8 slices of puff pastry (frozen)
- Flour for the work surface
- 8 slice(s) Kasseler, cut approx. 1/2 cm thick
- 8 slices of processed cheese (Chester or toast)
- 1 egg(s), separated
- possibly milk or cream
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes
Thaw the puff pastry for 15 minutes, then roll each slice out into a square on flour. Place a slice of Cheshire cheese or toasted bread in the center, then a slice of smoked pork loin on top. Brush the edges with egg white and fold over the smoked pork loin. Turn over and place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Brush with egg yolk (mixed with milk or cream, if desired). Preheat the oven to 200°C (top/bottom heat) and bake the smoked pork loin for about 25 minutes. Serve with sauerkraut or a fresh green salad.
