Redcurrant jam

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 kg currants, already sorted
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • 500 g gelling sugar 2:1
  • ½ cinnamon stick(s)
  • 4 cl blackcurrant

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

makes 4 glasses of 350 ml each

Place the prepared currants in a saucepan and mash lightly with a potato masher. Add the gelling sugar, stir in, and let it stand for one hour. Add the orange zest and cinnamon stick. Bring the jam to a boil while stirring, then simmer for 4-5 minutes. Remove the cinnamon stick and stir in the blackcurrant. Pour into the prepared jars and seal. The jam has a pleasantly sweet and tart flavor and can also be used as a pie filling.
