Pick the ribwort plantain leaves on a dry day and shake them clean. Pour 2 liters of water over the leaves and boil in a pot for 10 minutes. Then, covered, let everything steep for about 1 hour. Remove the leaves with a sieve and reduce the liquid without the leaves by half. Add 1 kg of sugar and boil gently for another 3 minutes. Remove the pot from the heat and add the citric acid. Let it cool and bottle. This yields approximately 2 liters.
