Rike's potato gratin with cheese

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 1 garlic clove(s)
  • 200 g processed cheese
  • 200 g cream
  • 125 ml milk
  • 1 tbsp vegetable broth
  • 1 pinch(s) nutmeg
  • salt and pepper
  • 150 g Gouda or Emmental cheese, grated
  • 1 tbsp butter

Working time approx. 40 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 40 minutes

creamy and super delicious

Peel the potatoes and cut into thin slices. Grease a large baking dish with a little butter. Place half of the potato slices in the dish. Set the rest aside. Crush the garlic and sprinkle it over the potatoes. Place the processed cheese, cream, milk, stock, nutmeg, salt, and pepper in a bowl and mix well. Spread half of the cream mixture in the baking dish. Now add the remaining potato slices to the dish and spread the remaining cream mixture on top. Finally, cover everything with the grated cheese. Bake in a preheated oven at 180-200°C (top/bottom heat) for 60 minutes until golden brown. If the cheese gets too brown, cover with aluminum foil.
