with delicious flavors and colors
Avoid washing the rose petals if possible, but they should be clean. Please do not use cut flowers from the store. You will need a 1000 ml glass jar with a screw lid. Preparation: Option 1: Place all ingredients in the jar and let stand for 5 days, shaking frequently; the sugar must dissolve. Then filter and let steep for 3 days; the longer the better. Preparation: Option 2: Simmer the petals with the sugar and water for 10 minutes (do not boil). Then cover and let stand for 1 day. Filter the solution and add the schnapps. Let it rest for a few days. The liqueur is (almost) ready, but please read on: Color variations and flavor changes: 1. The roses should come from the same plant, if possible, but mixtures also produce beautiful liqueur colors. 2. Color changes are possible: …a) 2-3 strands of saffron, or a pinch of powder, make the liqueur a beautiful yellow. …b) a dried hibiscus flower, briefly soaked, makes the liqueur red. …c) a tablespoon of cherry liqueur (or juice) makes the liqueur pink. (slight change in taste) …d) a mallow blossom makes the liqueur (dark) red …e) a little lemon zest (unsharpened) makes it yellow; add it in time and filter. …f) brown sugar also influences the color. 3. Changes in taste: to test, add a tiny amount to 100 ml of liqueur. …a) a little cherry liqueur (juice) makes the liqueur fruity. …b) a few drops of lemon add a little tartness. …c) a small piece of ginger makes the liqueur a little more bitter. …d) about 3 jasmine blossoms make a huge difference. …e) about 25 small elderflower blossoms make a wonderful change in taste and aroma. Serve the liqueur chilled if possible. A few more words about the health benefits of roses: Roses purify the blood, they relieve headaches, earaches, and toothaches, and they strengthen the heart and nerves.
