rose syrup

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 2 handfuls of leaves from untreated scented roses
  • ½ liter of water
  • ½ kg sugar
  • ½ tsp citric acid
  • possibly flavoring (essential oils)

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Pour 0.5 liters of boiling water over the rose petals, bring to a boil, turn off the heat, and let the infusion steep, covered, for 15 minutes. Strain and reduce the liquid with sugar and citric acid. Let it cool, and bottle. You may want to add a little essential oil for a more aromatic flavor—it’s up to your taste. This recipe doesn’t use fresh lemon, as I’ve found the syrup goes off more quickly. Keep the bottles cool!
