Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g flour
  • 30 g yeast, fresh
  • 200 ml milk
  • 200 g butter or margarine
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 5 tsp sour cream
  • 150 g cheese, e.g. Emmental or Gouda
  • 2 tsp salt
  • possibly caraway
  • Flour , for the work surface
  • Egg yolk, for brushing

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 50 minutes

Cheese pogatsch

Dissolve the yeast in lukewarm milk, then mix with the flour and softened margarine or butter. Then add the egg yolk, sour cream, salt, and half of the grated cheese. Knead everything well. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to a thickness of about 1.5-2 cm. Brush with egg yolk and sprinkle with the remaining cheese and caraway seeds, if desired. Cut or cut out shapes and bake in the oven at 190 degrees Celsius for 20-25 minutes.
