Feta strudel

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 packs of puff pastry from the refrigerated section (roll)
  • 2 packs of feta cheese made from sheep’s milk
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3 eggs (size M)
  • 2 tbsp flour

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Feta Retes from Hungary

Roll out the puff pastry rolls. Mash the feta cheese with a fork, add the sour cream and egg yolk, and mix with a mixer. Fold in the 2 tablespoons of flour. Preheat the oven to 180°C (fan oven). Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form and carefully fold them into the cheese mixture. Then, using a spatula, spread them onto the puff pastry and roll the dough up like a strudel. Fold the ends of the puff pastry under. Place the strudel on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Bake on the bottom rack of the preheated oven for about 20 minutes (depending on the oven, the baking time will be 20-30 minutes). When the strudel is golden brown, remove it, let it stand for a moment, slice it, and eat it warm. If you like, you can also spread the cheese mixture onto 3 rolls of puff pastry. This makes a thinner strudel. We prefer it with a thick filling.
