Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 750 g sauerkraut
- 1 bay leaf
- 4 juniper berries
- 1 apple
- 1 onion(s)
- some vinegar
- some salt
- some sugar
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour
Basic recipe
Place the sauerkraut and spices in a pot. Finely chop the apple and onion. Add water, vinegar, salt, and sugar. Simmer everything together for 45 minutes. This goes best with homemade mashed potatoes. And delicious ribs, liverwurst, and blood sausage. I also have a great recipe called “Sauerkraut Casserole”—simply delicious!
