Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 600 g sauerkraut
  • 200 g bacon, streaky
  • 1 apple
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 1 garlic clove(s)
  • 250 ml vegetable stock
  • 100 ml white wine (Riesling)
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 5 minutes

Peel the bacon, onion, and garlic and chop finely. Slowly sauté everything until it has taken on some color. Then add the finely chopped apple and sauté it for a bit. Deglaze with the white wine and let it almost evaporate. Now add the rinsed and drained sauerkraut. Stir everything thoroughly and then top up with the stock. Simmer for about 30 minutes and season with salt and pepper. Be careful with the salt because of the bacon. We usually serve smoked pork with mashed pork and braised onions.
