Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 500 g potatoes
- 1 onion(s)
- 125 g ham, diced
- 1 bell pepper(s), green
- 1 bell pepper(s), red
- 150 g sheep’s cheese
- 75 g cheese, grated
- 3 tbsp flour
- 2 eggs
- salt and pepper
- herbs of your choice
- possibly grease for the mold
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes
Peel and grate the potatoes (as you would for potato pancakes). Peel and dice the onion. Mix the grated potatoes and finely chopped onion with the flour, eggs, and diced ham. Pour the batter into a cake pan, either lined with baking paper or greased (I personally use a silicone pan, which doesn’t need to be greased). Trim the peppers, dice them, and spread them on the bottom. Dice the feta cheese and add it to the bottom. Sprinkle the mixture with grated cheese and place it in the oven. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (convection oven) for about 50-60 minutes. Serve hot. Tip: Seasoning the potato mixture with herbs such as oregano, marjoram, or basil makes it even more aromatic. I’ve also made this dish without meat and ham, adding several herbs and spices. This makes it a delicious dish for vegetarians, too. Also suitable as a warm starter for a meal – depending on the shape, the cake can be cut into about 12-16 pieces.
