Schusterstipp with cream herring

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 200 g bacon, diced
  • 2 medium-sized onions, diced
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • n. B. water
  • salt and pepper
  • n. B. Flour
  • 1 pack of herring (cream herring)

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Heat the oil in a pan. Add the bacon and onions and fry. Slowly add the flour to the pan to absorb all the fat. Season with salt and pepper and sauté the flour until golden brown. Then deglaze with water and simmer. If necessary, slowly add more water while stirring until the right consistency is reached, making sure the sauce continues to thicken. Finally, season again with salt and pepper if necessary. Arrange the creamed herring on a plate with the sauce and serve.
