Seitan burger

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 250 g seitan
  • 300 ml water
  • 3 tbsp, heaped spice mix for seitan
  • 4 rolls (hamburger buns)
  • e.g. pickled cucumber(s)
  • e.g. tomato(s)
  • n. B. onion(s)
  • 2 liters of vegetable broth
  • lots of oil
  • e.g. salad
  • e.g. barbecue sauce or salsa

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes

Vegan, vegetarian, nut-free

Mix the seitan with the spice mix, add the water, and knead everything into a rubbery dough. Form a roll and let it rest for 20 minutes. Slice the tomatoes, onions, and pickled cucumbers, and wash the lettuce. Slice the seitan roll and cook in a pot with the vegetable broth for about 20 minutes. Drain the seitan slices and fry them in a pan with plenty of oil until crispy. Cut open the hamburger buns, spread with salsa or barbecue sauce, and top with the seitan patties and vegetables, as desired. Enjoy!
