Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 g quark, 20%
  • 150 ml milk
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 500 g flour
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 50 g sesame seeds
  • 3 stalks of thyme
  • 1 tbsp milk for brushing
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds for sprinkling
  • 1 tsp thyme for sprinkling

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Preheat the oven to 175 degrees fan-assisted oven. Remove the thyme leaves from the stems and chop finely. Combine the quark, milk, egg, salt, and oil in a bowl and mix. Sift the flour, mix with the baking powder, sesame seeds, and thyme, add to the quark mixture, and knead into a smooth dough. Form the dough into a roll approximately 70 cm in diameter and twist it into a snail shape. Line a baking tray with baking paper. Place the snail shape on the baking tray and bake for approximately 40-45 minutes. 10 minutes before the end of the baking time, brush with milk and sprinkle with the remaining sesame seeds and thyme. Do the skewer test with a wooden skewer to check if the bread is cooked through. Let the bread cool and then slice it.
