Severine's tomato and corn sauce

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 200 ml tomato(s), pureed
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ can corn
  • 1 tbsp rapeseed oil
  • 1 tsp sweet paprika powder
  • 1 pinch of garlic granules
  • 1 pinch of ginger powder
  • 2 tsp oregano, shredded
  • black pepper
  • Cayenne pepper
  • possibly cream

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

quick sauce for pasta or rice

Place the passata in a saucepan with the sugar, salt, corn, and oil, stir to combine, and bring to a boil. For a more intense corn flavor, stir in some of the canned corn water. Add the spices and simmer over low heat for about 5 minutes. Season to taste. For a milder flavor, add cream (sweet or sour). Variations: The sauce can be refined with vegetables such as peas and other spices. More sugar or honey makes the sauce sweeter. Finely chopped almonds and hazelnuts are also suitable for rice. By adding water and tomato paste, you can quickly turn the sauce into a tomato soup (season with vegetable broth if desired).
