Shelf Life of Boiled Potatoes: Information and Tips

Leftover boiled potatoes – no problem when stored properly

  • You can keep boiled potatoes for about three to four days.
  • Do not put the already prepared food in an airtight plastic container. Here the potatoes absorb water more easily and spoil faster.
  • It is better to put the potatoes on a plate and cover them with a clean cloth. The tubers must be as dry as possible. If necessary, pat them dry with paper towels.
  • Potatoes with their skins keep a little longer than without – the skin serves as natural protection.
  • Put the potatoes in a cool place. The refrigerator works too, but potatoes quickly take on the taste and smell of the food around them. In short, they no longer taste as good.
  • To test whether the potatoes are still good after a few days, trust your senses: if the tubers smell funny or no longer look appetizing, it is better to dispose of the potatoes.
