Mashed Potato Minced Beef Casserole (GB)

For a Shepherd’s Pie, use minced lamb; for a Cottage Pie, use minced beef. Heat the fat in a pan, add 1 large chopped onion. Fry the mince for about 3 minutes, add the flour, brown it, and mix well. Pour in just under 1/4 liter of stock and simmer while stirring. Season with pepper, salt, mustard, and ketchup. Grease a casserole dish and add the mince. Cook the potatoes in salted water until tender, drain, and mash with 30g butter and warm milk until firm. Carefully place the potatoes on the mince and smear them with a fork to create a pattern (“plowed field”). Place a few knobs of butter on top of the mashed potatoes and sprinkle with a little salt. Preheat the oven and bake at 200°C for 20-30 minutes, then at 180°C for about 20 minutes until golden brown. Enjoy!
