Side Dish: Kohlrabi with Mushroom Filling

The perfect side dish: kohlrabi with mushroom filling recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 8 piece Kohlrabi – small tubers or less large ones
  • 250 g Mushrooms
  • 1 piece Shallot
  • 4 Stripes Bacon
  • Salt, pepper, paprika
  1. Peel the cabbage, cut a little straight at the bottom (standing surface) and hollow out from the other side (ball cutter). Then cook the kohlrabi in well-salted water until almost soft, save the hollowed out contents for soup etc.
  2. Clean the mushrooms, quarter them and fry them in a little clarified butter. Cut the bacon into narrow strips, finely dice the shallot, add both to the mushrooms. Season with salt, pepper and paprika.
  3. Remove the kohlrabi from the cooking water and fill with the mushroom mixture. Serving.
  4. In the season it is also delicious with porcini mushrooms.
