Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 250 g dried fruit (baked fruit), mixed
  • 500 g smoked streaky bacon
  • 1 cinnamon stick(s)
  • 3 cloves
  • some sugar
  • 2 tsp cornstarch

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Rest period approx. 1 day; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 35 minutes; Total time approx. 1 day 2 hours

The day before, soak the dried fruit in cold water. Place the bacon in a pot, just cover with water, and simmer covered over low heat for 1 hour. Then add the dried fruit with the soaking water and the spices and simmer for another 35 minutes. Season with a pinch of sugar and thicken with the cornstarch. Remove the bacon, slice it, and add it back. Serve with yeast or potato dumplings.
