Simit sesame rings

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 150 g butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 100 ml vegetable oil
  • 100 ml milk
  • 100 ml water
  • 600 g flour
  • 3 tsp dry yeast
  • 100 g sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

With butter

Crack 2 eggs into 125g softened butter, oil, milk, water, and salt. Mix the flour with the dry yeast and stir into the egg mixture, tablespoon by tablespoon, until you have a dough that you can knead. Form the dough into small balls. You can make small or large simits, depending on the size. Roll out the balls with your hands until about the thickness of a finger and shape them into a ring. Press the ends together. Crack the third egg into a plate and dip the rings in the sesame seeds. Roll them in the sesame seeds and place them on a baking sheet greased with 25g butter. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 20 minutes. The simits are nice and crispy, delicious, and, in my opinion, exactly like the ones you’d get from street vendors in Turkey.
