Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 4 slices of Kasseler minute steaks
  • 6 carrots
  • 50 ml maple syrup
  • 500 g potatoes, mainly waxy
  • 125 ml milk
  • 30 g butter
  • 2 g nutmeg, freshly grated
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 0.33 iceberg lettuce
  • 75 ml natural yogurt
  • 1 tsp vinegar

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Peel the carrots, potatoes, and onion. Halve and quarter the carrot. Quarter the potatoes. Cut the onion into thin rings. Wash one-third of a head of iceberg lettuce and cut into strips. Season the natural yogurt generously with salt and pepper and add the vinegar. Mix well and dress the salad. Add more pepper if necessary. Cook the potatoes in a large saucepan for 25 minutes until soft. Meanwhile, brown the onion strips in 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan for 10-15 minutes. Turn several times and sprinkle with sugar halfway through. Remove from the pan and set aside. Bring a small pot of water to a boil and cook the carrots for about 15 minutes. Drain and let them simmer with the maple syrup for 5 minutes on a warm stovetop, tossing frequently. For the last 5 minutes, heat the smoked pork steaks in a large pan over low heat on both sides. During this time, drain the water from the potatoes and add the butter and milk. Mash vigorously and season with nutmeg, pepper, and salt to taste.
