Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g Kasseler, hunting sausage and meat sausage (mixed as required)
  • 2 onions
  • 1 can of tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 liter meat broth
  • 4 grains allspice
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 4 tbsp tomato paste
  • Tomato ketchup
  • 1 can sauerkraut
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • salt and pepper
  • Paprika powder

Popular stew from the East

Cut the meat and sausage into strips. Peel and dice the onions. Brown the meat in a pan, add the onions, and sauté briefly. Add the tomato paste and sauté briefly. Deglaze the meat with the broth and add the allspice berries, bay leaf, and tomato ketchup. Cover and simmer for about 45 minutes. Add the canned tomatoes and sauerkraut, and season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Stir in the sour cream to finish. Tip: Tastes best on the second day and is ideal as a party stew.
