Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 onions
  • 100 g ham or bacon
  • 300 g meat, ready cooked or sausage (e.g. meat sausage, salami, bockwurst)
  • 4 small pickles
  • ½ lemon(s)
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 100 g tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp paprika powder, sweet
  • 1,500 ml meat broth
  • 1 large red bell pepper(s)
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tbsp capers
  • ⅛ liter sour cream
  • salt and pepper
  • possibly pepper (grains)
  • possibly allspice (grains)

Instructions

Working time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Peel and finely chop the onions, dice the bacon. Cut the meat or sausage into pieces and slice the cucumber. Deseed the bell pepper and cut into thin strips. Fry the ham or bacon in a pan and then fry the diced onions until golden brown. Then add the meat or sausage, cucumber, and bell pepper and fry. Finally, add the tomato paste, paprika, and crushed garlic and sauté everything together. Pour the broth and bay leaf into the pan and simmer for 5-10 minutes (add a few peppercorns and allspice berries if desired and continue cooking). Season generously with salt and pepper. Pour the solyanka into a bowl, sprinkle with the capers, and arrange the sliced ​​lemon on top. Just before serving, pour in the sour cream.
