Soup Filler: Marinated Bread Cubes

The perfect soup filler: marinated bread cubes recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 2 Discs Old farmer’s bread
  • 2 piece Garlic cloves
  • 0,5 teaspoon Black pepper from the mill
  • 0,5 teaspoon Paprika powder
  • 1 teaspoon Dried mixed herbs *
  • 1 Knife point Salt
  • 4 tablespoon Extra virgin olive oil
  1. Cut the bread into pieces 2×2 cm and let them dry.
  2. Peel the garlic and dice very finely.
  3. Mix the bread cubes with pepper, salt, the dried herbs and paprika powder, pour the oil over them, stir well and leave to steep for at least two hours.
  4. Heat a pan and slowly fry the bread cubes until crispy. Beware: the garlic burns pretty quickly and becomes bitter as a result.
  5. They just taste like that, as a soup, as a topping for salads or as a basis for a bread salad.
