Sour cherry – vanilla – jam

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg sour cherries, pitted
  • 1 kg gelling sugar
  • 1 vanilla pod(s)

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Wash and pit the cherries. Place the fruit in a large saucepan and mix well with the preserving sugar. Split the vanilla pod, scrape out the seeds, and add everything. Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring constantly. Let the mixture simmer for 3 minutes, stirring continuously. Remove the vanilla pod and fill screw-top jars to the brim with the hot jam. Seal the jars tightly, turn them upside down, and stand them upside down for about 5 minutes.
