Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 75 g celeriac
  • 2 carrots
  • 2 small onions
  • 2 small garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 500 g minced beef
  • 125 g bacon cubes
  • 200 ml red wine, dry
  • 125 ml meat broth, strong
  • e.g. salt and pepper
  • 1 large can of tomatoes, peeled
  • bunch of basil
  • 500g spaghetti

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 2 hours 15 minutes; Total time approx. 2 hours 45 minutes

Recipe from my favorite Italian restaurant. Cheap yet delicious!

Wash and peel the celery and carrots, then finely dice them. Finely dice the onions and garlic. Heat olive oil over medium heat and briefly fry the minced meat, adding the onions and garlic. Reduce the heat to low, add the celery, carrots, and bacon. Fry for 5 minutes, deglaze with red wine and meat stock, and reduce for about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Add the canned tomatoes and simmer over low heat for 2 hours. Wash the basil, shake it dry, and tear it into pieces, then add it to the sauce. Season again with salt and pepper if necessary. Cook the spaghetti al dente according to the package instructions and serve with the sauce.
