  • n. B. Salt
  • 6 drops Worcestershire sauce
  • e.g. garlic powder, or onions, chopped or onion rings
  • some butter or margarine

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Use up leftovers, quick to make, spicy, nutritious, salty and good for hangovers

Heat some butter or margarine in a small, non-stick pan with a flat edge. If using slices of bread, toast them first, then cut them diagonally and place them together to form a square. Spread the bread with butter and top with ham, salami, or sausage (whatever you have in the fridge). Crack two eggs into the pan, letting them slide into the pan, leaving the yolks whole or scrambling them together, if desired. Just before they’re cooked through, season generously and add onion, tomato slices, and/or diced bell peppers, if desired. Remove the rind from the cheese, cut it into pieces, and spread it over the egg until everything is covered. Wait until the cheese melts, then immediately slide it onto the bread and serve. Originally intended as a hearty hangover-curing breakfast, with a slightly lighter seasoning, this also makes a quick, warm dinner.
