Spicy clams

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 1 kg mussel(s) (clams)
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce, light
  • 3 garlic cloves, roughly chopped
  • 1 chili pepper(s), red and/or green
  • 1 handful of basil (Tai basil leaves or regular)
  • 2 large shallots, finely diced
  • 2 tbsp oil (sunflower oil)

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 8 minutes; Total time approx. 23 minutes

For me, a completely different and great mussel variation! Easy and quick to make. Suitable as a starter. If serving as a main course, use about 1/3 to 1/2 more. Wash the clams and drain well. Deseed the chili peppers and slice them into fine strips, peel the garlic and chop them into relatively large pieces, and peel and finely dice the shallots. Heat a wok and add the oil. As soon as it starts to smoke slightly, immediately add the mussels, shallots, chili peppers, and garlic and stir continuously. Cook for about 5-6 minutes. Then add the oyster sauce and soy sauce and stir for another 2 minutes. Sprinkle the basil over the top. Done! Serve immediately while hot. Side dish: baguette. CAUTION: Do not eat mussels that have not opened!
