Spicy mashed potatoes

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg potato(s), floury
  • ¼ liter of milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 500 g minced meat, mixed
  • 1 large onion(s)
  • 6 tomatoes (or 1/2 to 1 can of pizza tomatoes)
  • 4 gherkins
  • salt and pepper
  • oregano
  • possibly nutmeg

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Peel the potatoes and boil in salted water. Peel and finely chop the onion, and sauté in a pan until translucent. Add the minced meat and fry until crumbly, stirring constantly. Peel and finely chop the tomatoes. Dice the gherkins and stir in. Season with salt, pepper, and oregano. Meanwhile, press the soft potatoes through a ricer. Heat the milk and stir in. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg, if desired. Add a knob of butter. Either mix the minced meat with the mashed potatoes straight away or serve separately from the mashed potatoes. Serve with a crisp salad of your choice.
