Spinach cream sauce

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 onion(s)
  • 1 garlic clove(s)
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 450 g creamed spinach, frozen
  • ¼ liter vegetable broth
  • salt and pepper
  • nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp pine nuts, as desired
  • 150 g cooked ham, as desired
  • 150 g cream
  • 500 g tortellini, variety of your choice, or gnocchi

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Great sauce even for people who don’t like spinach

Peel and finely dice the onions and garlic. Heat the fat in a saucepan. Sauté the onions and garlic, and if you like, the ham. Add the creamed spinach and broth. Cover and cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, if you like, toast the pine nuts in a dry pan. Add the cream to the spinach and bring to a boil. Season the sauce with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Add the cooked tortellini or gnocchi to the sauce. Add the pine nuts only in the bowl.
