How to bake sponge cake with banana

The best way to bake a banana cake is in a Gugelhupf tin.

  1. Ingredients: 250g softened butter, 150g sugar, 300g flour, half a packet of baking powder, five eggs, two ripe bananas and 50g chocolate chips (optional).
  2. Cream the softened butter with the sugar. Gradually add the eggs. Mash the bananas and stir them in as well.
  3. Mix the flour with the baking powder into the dough as well until you get an even mass. Finally, fold in the chocolate chips.
  4. Grease the baking pan a little and fill in the banana batter. The cake needs about 45 minutes in the oven preheated to 180 degrees. You can use the chopstick test to determine whether the dough is baked through.
  5. As with any batter cake, you should let the banana cake cool in the pan before removing it. Then the cake won’t break so easily.
  6. When the cake is completely cool, sprinkle it with a little powdered sugar.
