Stew with cucumbers and pears

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g pork
  • 250 g cucumber(s), green
  • 250 g potatoes
  • 250 g pear(s)
  • salt and pepper
  • some fat (pork fat)

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 30 minutes

Cut peeled, seeded cucumbers into large pieces and place them flat in a greased baking dish. Layer a layer of cored pear slices on top. Cut the meat into large pieces and sear briefly in fat, then place in the center of the pears. Arrange potato pieces around the meat. Pour the cooking fat and a cup of water over everything. Cover and steam in a hot oven at moderate heat (approx. 175-180°C top/bottom heat) for about 2 hours. Do not stir!
