How to properly store tangerines
Similar to other citrus fruits, tangerines don’t like it when you put them in the fridge. However, there are quite different opinions here. Some swear by it and prefer the refrigerator as a storage location.
- Ideally, however, you should store the tangerines in the pantry at room temperature. The temperature in the room should be slightly cool.
- If possible, the storage location of tangerines should not be completely dark. However, direct sunlight is also not recommended.
- If possible, use a holey container, such as a basket. This way the mandarins get air and they stay fresh longer.
How long do tangerines keep?
If you store your tangerines properly, they will stay fresh for a particularly long time.
- Under ideal storage conditions, the tangerines can last for several weeks.
- However, if the room temperature is too high, tangerines tend to spoil rather quickly, or at least lose their juicy aroma.
- For this reason, it is best to eat the tangerines as soon as possible after purchase if you have to store them at a warm room temperature. As a rule, their shelf life is limited to around three days.
