a very tasty dessert, not only for children

Knead the dough from 50g butter, egg, layered cheese, 50g sugar, and about 150g flour and let it rest in the refrigerator for about an hour. Hull and wash the strawberries, and pat them dry. Divide the dough into about 12 small pieces. If it’s sticky, just add a little more flour. Flatten each piece of dough on the flat surface of a floured hand (I think this is easier than rolling it out), place a strawberry inside, seal, and form into a dumpling that’s as round as possible. Cook the dumplings in boiling water for about 10 minutes, then drain. Toast the breadcrumbs with 3 tablespoons of sugar in the hot butter (approximate amount – use to taste!) until golden brown, then toss the dumplings in the butter. You can easily adjust the shape if they aren’t quite as round. Serve with ready-made or homemade vanilla sauce, if desired. Tastes best when the strawberry inside is still lukewarm, but it also works cold. It’ll probably work with other fruits too. Our 2-year-old loved this recipe for lunch, and we found it delicious with Sunday afternoon coffee.
