You can find substitutes for tarragon in rosemary, oregano, chervil, and parsley. Tarragon originally comes from Central Asia and is also called snake herb.

  • Rosemary along with a few fennel seeds mimic the sweet, bitter taste of tarragon.
  • Along with rosemary, oregano is one of the best alternatives to tarragon. Because the popular herb is also spicy. When fresh, the chopped oregano leaves give the dish a lively aroma. When dried, the aroma of oregano is stronger.
  • Chervil fresh is also a good substitute for tarragon because the herb has a fresh, sweet taste. Unfortunately, it is not quite as spicy as the tarragon. But you can counteract this with pepper.
  • Flat-leaf parsley has a mild, spicy flavor similar to that of tarragon. Chop the smooth leaves and add them fresh to your meal as a spice.
