Ingredients for 12 servings:
- 125 g butter/margarine
- flavoring (lemon flavor)
- 125 g sugar
- 2 eggs
- 50 g cornstarch
- 125 g flour
- 1 tsp, leveled baking powder
- 2 eggs, of which the egg white
- 1 tbsp water, cold
- 100 g sugar
- 2 eggs, including the yolk
- 40 g cornstarch
- 40 g flour
- ½ tsp, leveled baking powder
- 2 tsp cinnamon (to taste)
- 1 bag almond(s), sliced
- 500 g apples (e.g. Golden Delicious)
- Sugar (granulated sugar) or icing sugar (possibly with cocoa pattern) for sprinkling
Instructions
Working time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes
Put the fat in a bowl, mix together the lemon, sugar, eggs, cornstarch, flour, and baking powder. Grease the bottom of a 26cm springform pan (only there), pour in the batter and sprinkle with the almonds; arrange the peeled apple quarters in a circle on top of the almonds. For the sponge cake, beat the egg whites and water until stiff, then add the sugar while stirring. Gently fold the egg yolks into the egg white mixture. Sift the starch, flour, baking powder, and cinnamon mixture and carefully fold it in with a whisk. Pour the sponge cake mixture over the apples and spread it on top. Bake in a preheated oven on the lowest rack at 200°C for 65-75 minutes. After baking, let it cool briefly, remove from the pan, cool completely on a wire rack, and sprinkle with sprinkles.
