Swedish Frasvåfflor – Crispy Waffles

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 100 g butter, lightly salted
  • 180 g wheat flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 400 ml whole milk
  • 1 egg(s)

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

The waffles are incredibly crispy, airy, and not too sweet. In Sweden, waffles are usually eaten with freshly whipped cream and strawberry or raspberry jam. Melt the butter. Mix all the ingredients together, but use only half the specified amount of milk. This ensures the waffle batter is homogeneous and doesn’t clump. Then add the remaining milk and mix everything into a batter. Let it rest for at least 10 minutes. Bake the waffles in a waffle iron and place the finished waffle on a wire rack. If the waffles aren’t eaten immediately, they can be kept warm in the oven at 75°C (top/bottom heat) without losing their crispiness. If the waffles have become soft, they can be made crispy again using the same method.
