  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup syrup, dark
  • ½ tsp ginger powder
  • ½ tsp cardamom powder
  • ½ tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 tsp clove powder
  • ½ cup(s) whipped cream
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 9 cups flour
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 1 tsp vinegar

Instructions

Working time approx. 2 hours; Rest period approx. 1 day; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 1 day 2 hours 5 minutes

for approx. 300 – 400 pieces

Mix the butter with the sugar, syrup, and spices. Add the semi-whipped cream. Mix the baking powder with half the flour and add it to the mixture. Gradually add the remaining flour. Knead the dough thoroughly on a floured surface. Then return it to the bowl and let it rest, covered, in the refrigerator overnight. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius (400 degrees Fahrenheit). Roll out the dough in batches as thinly as possible. Cut out any shapes you like and bake for 5 minutes (until they are nicely browned). Let cool. Mix icing from 2 cups of powdered sugar, 1 egg, and 1 teaspoon of vinegar and decorate the cookies. They are usually baked in the shape of a heart. Makes about 300 to 400 cookies.
