Swedish matjes dish

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 cans of fish (Swedish matjes, 200 g each)
  • e.g. rapeseed oil or sunflower oil
  • 1 garlic clove(s), finely chopped
  • 1 lemon(s), untreated
  • 1 bunch parsley, flat, chopped
  • 30 g pine nuts, chopped
  • 80 g Parmesan, freshly grated

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Place the herring pieces on a platter. Mix the oil, garlic, lemon zest and juice, parsley, and pine nuts into a paste and spread it over the herring pieces. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the top. In Sweden, this dish is served with boiled potatoes.
