Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 300 g apples, sour, peeled and pitted
  • 320 g sugar
  • 22 sheets of gelatin
  • 50 ml water
  • 4 tbsp rose water
  • 130 g ground walnuts
  • Powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 12 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 12 hours 30 minutes

North-West Pacific Region

Roughly chop the prepared apples, coarsely grate them with a food processor, and mix with the sugar. Bring to a boil in a saucepan and simmer with the lid on for about 20 minutes. Remove from the heat. Mix in the rose water and ground walnuts thoroughly. Soak the gelatin leaves in water for 5 minutes. Then drain the water, add 50 ml of water, and heat gently. Do not let it boil. Then quickly stir into the warm apple mixture. Lightly oil two approximately 12 x 12 cm containers, spread the apple mixture between them, and chill in the refrigerator until firm. Ideally, overnight. Remove the mixture from the containers and cut each container into 16 equal cubes with a knife. Then roll the jelly cubes in powdered sugar. Cover and store in the refrigerator. Tip: Vegans or vegetarians can use agar-agar instead of gelatin leaves. Be sure to convert the gelling quantity according to the package instructions.
