Sweet and sour pork

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 750 g lean pork
  • 1 carrot(s)
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 1 bell pepper(s), green
  • 300 ml chicken broth
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • Vinegar
  • Soy sauce
  • 1 jar soy sprouts
  • olive oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 20 minutes

Marinate the meat in about 5-6 tablespoons of soy sauce and about 3 tablespoons of oil for about 2 hours. Briefly sear the meat on all sides in a pan. Remove from the pan and simmer in chicken stock in a pot for about 20-25 minutes. Cut the bell pepper, onion, and carrot into small pieces and sear briefly in the pan. Add the slightly drained meat. Add 2 tablespoons of sugar and a small splash of vinegar to the stock and reduce the sauce to a thickened sauce. Sprinkle another tablespoon of sugar over the meat and vegetables and mix in. If desired, add a small splash of vinegar here as well. Add the bean sprouts to the meat and vegetables and mix in carefully. Pour the reduced sauce over the meat. Serve with rice (or noodles).
