Instructions
Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes
delicious with yeast dumplings or plum dumplings
Pit and quarter the plums. Mix the sugar with the cinnamon and, if desired, a pinch of nutmeg. Gather the remaining ingredients. Caramelize the cinnamon-sugar mixture in a small pan. Caution: Only use a low to medium heat, otherwise the sugar will burn too quickly. As soon as all the sugar has liquefied, add the plums and stir into the caramelized sugar. After about 1 minute, add a small cup (a coffee cup) of water and simmer until reduced by about half. Now add the fruit brandy and carefully (!) light the whole thing with a lighter, i.e., flambé it. Serve as soon as the alcohol has burned off. Yeast dumplings or plum dumplings go perfectly with this, but I can also imagine semolina pudding. Non-alcoholic alternative: Instead of the water, use 1 large cup of grape juice and simmer until reduced by half. Then the little ones can enjoy it too.
