Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 kg sweet potatoes
- some sugar
- some salt
- Cinnamon
- e.g. butter
- n. B. water

as a side dish (from the stove – not from the oven)
Unfortunately, my recipe doesn’t have the exact measurements because I simply watched a friend in South Africa cooking together! So you peel the sweet potatoes in the same amount that you would use local potatoes. The peeled sweet potatoes are sliced and placed in a pot with a little water; the potatoes shouldn’t be covered. Add a little salt, cinnamon, and sugar (although use a little more). Sprinkle with a few knobs of butter and then slowly reduce the potatoes. Test for doneness by “poking” them, just like with local potatoes, and top up the water if necessary.
