South African yellow rice

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 cup long grain rice, approx. 200 – 250 ml content
  • 2 cups water
  • tsp salt
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • tsp cinnamon powder
  • 8 g raisins
  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions

Working time approx. 2 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 32 minutes

Bring the rice, salt, turmeric, sugar, cinnamon, raisins, butter, and water to a boil in a saucepan, uncovered. Once the water boils, reduce the heat to low and cover. Simmer for approximately 20-30 minutes, until the rice is soft and fluffy and has absorbed all the water. Remove the rice from the heat and fluff it with a fork.
