a Grandma Liese recipe: good – cheap – quick, for leaf salads
Whisk together the oil, vinegar, onion, salt, sugar, and pepper. Slowly pour the condensed milk into the sauce, a little at a time. Let it settle occasionally and stir continuously, ensuring it reaches a thick consistency. The milk should combine with the vinegar and curdle. The amount of condensed milk can vary. Use only enough milk to keep the sauce from becoming too thin. If you use too much milk at once, it won’t curdle, and the sauce will remain thin. We like to serve this sauce with endive salad or lettuce. It’s also great with Sauerbraten (sauerbraten) or Königsberger Klopse (a kind of meatball).
