Ingredients for 6 servings:
- 2 egg yolks
- 100 g sugar
- 150 g butter, melted
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp Marsala, (alternatively rum or Cointreau)
- 200 g biscuit(s), ready-made butter biscuits (e.g. Leipnitz)
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 30 minutes
Beat the egg yolks and sugar until fluffy. Add the butter, cocoa, and Marsala and carefully mix everything until smooth. Crumble the cookies, for example, by placing them in a freezer bag and crushing them. Mix the cookie crumbs and chocolate mixture into a firm dough. Form half of the dough into a tight roll. This is easily done by heaping the mixture onto a piece of plastic wrap, rolling it up, and then using your hands to gradually compact the roll and roll it into a round shape. Let the finished rolls chill in the refrigerator for at least two hours. Remove from the wrap and slice. Store leftovers in the refrigerator. The “salami” can also be easily frozen. It makes a great emergency treat for guests. The flavor is very reminiscent of the good old “Kalter Hund” (cold dog) and is usually a hit with adults who remember it from their childhood.
