To Feel Happier: Scientists Tell How Much Chocolate You Should Eat Per Day

When choosing chocolate, it is better to give preference to black. If a person eats a 10 g piece of dark chocolate with 85% cocoa content three times a day, they will feel happier.

This is the conclusion reached by scientists from Seoul National University in South Korea, Daily Mail reports.

The study involved 46 people. They were divided into two groups. One group consumed chocolate with different percentages of cocoa for three weeks, while the other did not eat chocolate at all.

Based on the results of the study, the researchers concluded that the mood improved in those people who ate dark chocolate. Scientists attribute the positive changes in mood to changes in the gut microbiota due to the consumption of dark chocolate.

“It is known that dark chocolate can change the mood, but we have proved for the first time that daily consumption of dark chocolate affects the physiological and psychological state of a person,” the authors of the study emphasized.

Earlier, doctors explained why chocolate is good for health. According to experts, first of all, it contains hormones responsible for mood – serotonin, endorphin, and dopamine (the so-called “happy hormone”).
