Tomato-mozzarella pasta bake

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 onion(s)
  • 400 g cherry tomatoes
  • 500g penne
  • 2 balls of mozzarella
  • 500 g tomatoes, chopped
  • 200 ml whipped cream
  • 1 bunch of basil
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • Sugar
  • 1 pinch of chili powder

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Peel the onion and dice it into small cubes. Halve the cherry tomatoes. Drain the mozzarella and dice it as well. Cook the pasta in boiling salted water until al dente. Heat a pan with oil and sauté the onions. Then add the passata and simmer for 3-4 minutes. Stir in the heavy cream, add 3-4 basil leaves, and season with salt, pepper, sugar, and chili. Drain the pasta and spread it in a baking dish. Mix the sauce with the pasta and fold in the halved cherry tomatoes and half of the mozzarella cubes. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cubes over the casserole. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for approx. 15-20 minutes.
