Tomato paste made from fresh tomatoes

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 2 kg tomatoes
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • ½ cup water

Instructions

Working time approx. 50 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

Wash and chop the tomatoes (you can peel and core them if you like), then place them in a pot. Add salt, sugar, and water and boil for 10 minutes, then puree with a hand blender. Then simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. While still hot, pour into prepared screw-top jars and seal. Tip: If you prefer a thicker consistency, you can simmer the mixture for longer and then strain it through a sieve.
