Tomato sauce with mozzarella & gnocchi

Spread the love

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 1 pack of tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 can of tomatoes, finely chopped
  • ½ onion(s)
  • basil
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 packs of gnocchi
  • Cayenne pepper
  • 1 pack of mozzarella

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Dice the mozzarella and finely chop the basil, then set aside. Peel and dice the onion and cook in a saucepan until translucent. Then add the tomatoes (pureed and canned) and half a glass of water and let it simmer. Meanwhile, bring the water for the gnocchi to a boil. Once the gnocchi are in the boiling water, season the sauce (be careful with the cayenne pepper; it’s easy to make a mistake and it will be way too hot). Once the gnocchi are cooked, remove the sauce from the heat and add the mozzarella and basil. Drain the gnocchi, divide them between plates and pour the sauce over them. The mozzarella will become nice and soft and will pull together wonderfully.
